My dear friend and great adventure photographer, Dan Bailey, got married in Fort Collins to his sweetheart of many years, Amy. They did a casual fun wedding at Avogadro's Number restaurant in Fort Collins, highlighted by a bike ride with family and friends through the back streets of Old Town, Fort Collins.

A Fantasy Prom: to re-live what did or didn't happen at your prom

The Denver Chapter of International Society of Event Specialists (ISES) sponsored a private prom party at Mile High Station to let an adult crowd re-live what did or did not happen at their prom. It was like a costume party in many ways with amazing decorations, flowers, music and food provided by ISES members. As a member, I was selected to be the photographer of the evening. Quite an honor when you consider those asking me are the best event and wedding planners in the state. It was a blast! Here are some pictures. Also check out the slideshow.

Fort Collins Wedding: Season Opener

For the 1st wedding of the 2008 wedding season I could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding to photograph. I was honored to photograph the modelesque couple Katie and Brandon in an elegant church wedding followed by special pictures on the Colorado State University campus where Katie recently graduated as a star student-athlete. Then on to The Fort Collins Marriott for a gala reception. Here are a couple of pictures from the day. You can check out a slideshow as well.

Las Vegas Photography Walk Around

This past month I attended the Annual Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention. It was great interacting with some of the best wedding photographers in the world and attending the massive trade show where the photography industry promotes the latest technology. I got some time to walk around Vegas and take a few pictures including some fellow photographers having a private poker tournament at Caesar's Palace. Bridal Star Magazine Features my Photography

Hitting news stands nationwide is the latest issue of Bridal Star HAIRSTYLES magazine. Thanks to Leslie Snyder of LesliesArts.com 24 of my bridal pictures made it into this issue including the two-page spread below. I've had the good fortune of working with Leslie on a number of weddings, both in Denver and the Vail area, where she does on-location hair and make-up. Because of Leslie's national reputation in her specialty field, Bridal Star Magazine asked her for some articles on hair and make-up. It was an honor for her to request my imagery and for the magazine to use so much of it.

Three More International Wedding Photography Awards

This week I got the great news that three of my wedding images placed in the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) quarterly contest. WPJA is such a prestigious organization because you can't just join it, you have to be elected into it. There were twenty categories of wedding imagages and 20 top places awarded in each category. I scored 9th in the Weather category with the picture below and also 4th and 8th place in the Rehearsal Dinner category.

Union Station Engagement Shoot for Melissa and Ryan

I just recently did an engagement shoot for Melissa and Ryan, who's wedding we will be photographing later this year. Cakes, Cakes and more Cakes

I recently photographed the Colorado Cake Icing Competition at the Colorado Home and Garden Show. In addition to nearly 100 very unique cakes being judged there was a celebrity cake icing competion where the celebrity cakes were auctioned of to benefit Denver's Children's Hospital. Eckhart Tolle , Jesh de Rox, and now Oprah Winfrey

Since helping Eckhart Tolle do a workshop in Boulder almost four years ago and spending time with him I've been a big fan of his message about "The Power of Now"; which is about staying focused in the present moment. That same message resonated with my friend Jesh de Rox, maybe the best photographer in the world at the present time. So, last fall, when we both heard Eckhart was making a public appearance for the 1st time in three years in New York City, we decided to go hear him and apply his message to our photography efforts...photographing from inside the moment. It was a great time and we were wow'd by Eckhart's message but never in our wildest dreams did we think Eckhart would be doing a 10 week online seminar program, starting March 3rd, with Oprah Winfrey, another person who crossed my path briefly way back in the late 80's. So, three of my favorite people... all connected...life can truly be exciting at times. Here a picture of Jesh de Rox from our NYC trip.

Unusual Details Found at Weddings

As a photographer I'm always focused on getting the details at a wedding, like the flowers, the rings special decorations, nuances of the wedding dress etc. But also I'm always open to finding random details that jump out at me.

Sometimes there's a story behind the picture, like the bride's veil laying on the bed next to a picture of the bride's deceased mother, on her wedding day... or a butterfly amongst flowers.

Kids Being Kids at Weddings

I enjoy weddings with kids. Their honest nature can often give a photographer great material provided he's able to anticipate what might happen...from a flower girl disinterested in formal pictures ...to a boy crawling out from under the head table during toasts... to kids drooling over an unusual raw food wedding cake. A few of my favorite kid pictures from 2007.

Ashriel and Matt had a very intimate wedding rehearsal dinner prior to their wedding this past Fall. Editing through some pictures I found two images from that dinner I really like.

Erica and Chris's Denver Wedding

We had the honor of photographing Erica and Chris's wedding at University Park Methodist Church across from Denver University, followed by a fun reception at The Wellshire Inn. Erica was a beautiful bride and there were many familiar faces in attendance since I had photographed Erica's sister's wedding two years ago.

Harvest Time Wedding in Organic Style

Ever wonder what it would be like to see a small self-contained community celebrate a wedding of two young community members? We got to witness the wedding of Sarah and Michael who live and farm on Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado. This wedding had a special genuineness to it that can best be expressed by pictures. I was very blessed to have my photographer friend Kent Meireis volunteer to assist me.

Urban Engagement Shoot

We had the pleasure of recently photographing Daniel and Kandice's Engagement shoot. They were looking for an urban feel to their images and I think we found a great location. All the pictures were taken within 100 yards of each other. We look forward to their wedding next May.
